How Pet Recess Began!
In late 2006, our founder, Julia Dixon, saw a need for doggie daycare in the South Shore area as she searched for a facility for her two Labradoodles. We started with a small house and land in Middleboro in mid-2007.

Our Steady Growth Trend Over the next two years, we grew from one dog to 20 daily guests and moved to a larger facility in mid-2010. By the end of 2010, we were a corporation.

The Lakeville MoveAs Pet Recess, Inc., we purchased the former K9 Country Club on Route 105 in Lakeville, Massachusetts, when the Starrs retired in 2015. We built a 3,000-square-foot, climate-controlled, divided play space. Other upgrades to the Lakeville location include central air and heat in the boarding kennels, an expanded grooming room with updated equipment, and new fencing for totally secure and spacious play areas.

For daycare and boarding, please note that no drop-offs or pickups are allowed between 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. for nap time. Grooming clients can be picked up between 12 and 2pm.
